The land

The soils are made up of laminated schist with quartz, sandstone,
clay and what we locally call “piedra mollar” (soft stone), a microporous stone which holds moisture well and feeds the vine just the right
amounts of water during dry Aliste summers. This mix of low-yielding soil-types, poor in organic matter but rich in minerals, strongly favours the production of high quality grapes and brings mineral, earthy and toasty notes to the wine.
